June will bring 2 important changes for Americans who rely on Social Security benefits. Bear in mind that the Administration supports more than 70 million Americans. Apart from retirement, there are also disability, survivor, spousal, and SSI benefits.

The first Social Security change has to do with SSI. If you are on SSI (Supplemental Security Income), you will not receive your payment on the first day of the month. Thus, you will not get SSI on June 1.

WHEN WILL SOCIAL SECURITY SEND SSI PAYMENTS FOR JUNE?

This is great news because Social Security has scheduled the June 1 SSI payment for May 31. Hence, you will receive your money one day in advance. Although this may not seem like a lot, it could be of great help if you are broke.

In this way, you can plan your June budget knowing when your money is due. Do not forget that this is not extra money or a double payment, so save it and spend it wisely. If you get SSI on May 31 and you are on Social Security, retirement or SSDI will be due on June 3.

Another group of retirees and SSDI recipients who can get money from the Administration on June 3 is those who started receiving benefits before May 1997. But what about the rest of the recipients?

NO SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19

This is probably one of the most important changes to the Social Security payments in June. Retirees and SSI recipients should know that there will be checks coming on June 12, 18, and 26.

Therefore, one of the Wednesday payments has been rescheduled by the Administration. It will mean that those receiving retirement or disability insurance on the third Wednesday will get their check in advance.

Social Security claims that the check for those on benefits after April 30, 1997, and whose birthday is from 11-20 will be due on June 18. SSA offices will be closed on federal holidays. So as to avoid delays, it will arrive one day in advance. For your information, Juneteenth National Independence Day is celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
