Retirees are eager to receive their next Social Security payments. In order to get them, you must have been born on specific days, or else, you are not eligible for a monthly payment on that payday.
Keep in mind that the payment on August 14, 2024, will only be for those born before the 11th of any month who got Social Security’s approval. Those on benefits before May 1997 are not eligible for any of the remaining retirement checks or direct deposits in August. Those on SSI at the same time do not qualify either.
Social Security on August 21
Retirees whose birthday is from the 11th to the 20th can get money on the 21st. In the same way, you are not eligible if you did not start getting monthly payments after April 30, 1997.
If any of your retirement payment is late, or missing, report it to the Social Security Administration after waiting for three mailing days. Some banks or financial institutions may have trouble issuing payments from time to time.
If you have not filed for Social Security payments yet, you can do so when you turn 62 if you have earned at least 40 work credits. Delaying retirement can be a wise idea if you would like to cash a larger check in retirement.
Social Security on August 28
The last payday that the Social Security Administration has scheduled for retirees is on August 28. There will be another payment due on August 30, 2024, but only for recipients of Supplemental Security Income.
To get a Social Security payment on August 28, you must have your birth date after the 20th. Of course, you cannot be on SSI and you must have gotten benefits after April 30, 1997, as well.
The average retirement benefit payment, as of June 2024, is $1,918 for all retired workers. Spouses and children may also qualify for monthly payments on the worker’s record. The largest retirement benefit is worth $4,873 if you file at 70.
