The Social Security Administration may not send you your December SSI check for this reason

Eligibility requirements for Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits are mandatory and must be met by citizens

SSI could not arrive in December because of some reasons

The Social Security Administration sends thousands of United States citizens a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check every month. But in order to get one of these checks, certain requirements must be met. These requirements do not change the amount of the check, but they are mandatory.

Therefore, at some point we could lose our Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check if we fail to meet the requirements. However, after losing a check, we may be able to reapply for it if we become eligible again. This gives peace of mind to American families who may need that money at some point.

But what we must keep in mind is that the Social Security Administration could stop paying us this benefit. In any case, this news will not come as a surprise if it happens to us, since the payment of SSI depends on monthly income. So getting the payment or not depends on our job and our salary that we receive every month.

WHY CAN SOCIAL SECURITY STOP SENDING SSI?

In order to get the monthly SSI payment, two requirements must be met. The first is that you must be 65 or older or have a disability. If you are on Supplemental Security Income because of age, you will not lose your check because you will always meet that requirement. However, if the Administration has granted us a disability check, if we cease to have a disability, we will lose the payment.

The other requirement for this monthly check is low monthly income. If we get a new job and, therefore, earn more monthly income we must notify the Administration immediately. This could cause us to lose our monthly Supplemental Security Income check but we may be able to get it back if we return to our previous situation.

So, the two reasons we may lose our SSI check are actually good news. On the one hand, if we stop having a disability we will no longer get the check and on the other hand if we have more money because of work the same thing will happen. Both situations are an improvement in our lives, so we will no longer receive SSI.

WHEN WILL THE NEXT SUPPLEMENTAL SECURITY INCOME PAYMENT ARRIVE?

The next Supplemental Security Income payment, if we have no problems collecting it, will arrive on January 1st. However, it will not be the only payment the Administration will send out in December. Up to two payments will arrive before the end of 2023, since on December 29th we will also be able to enjoy one of these benefits.

The payment on the 1st of December will have a maximum of $914, but the payment on the 29th of December will not. Since this other payment is actually an advance of the 1st of January check it will already have the COLA 2024 added to it. This means we will have a maximum payment of $943.

Remember to activate Direct Deposit if you want to get the money as soon as possible. Otherwise, the SSI payment will not arrive on the days announced on the calendar, but will arrive in the following days, and may even be a week later.
