A Social Security announcement has been made. Offices will remain closed on October 14. This is because of a Federal Holiday. Bear in mind that SSA never opens on Federal Holidays.
No Social Security payments will be sent on October 14 either. SSA always sends payments on weekdays which are not holidays. So, when it is the weekend or a holiday, there are no paydays.
Which Federal Holiday takes place on October 14 that affects Social Security offices?
According to the United States Government’s official website, it will be Columbus Day on October 14. It is always celebrated on the second Monday of October.
After Columbus Day on October 14, there will be a few more Federal Holidays which will bring a few SSA office closures. For example, Monday, November 11, 2024, will be Veterans Day.
So, all Social Security offices will be closed on November 11 as well. After this Federal Holiday, there will be another one. Thanksgiving Day will be celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. The last closure of the SSA offices will be on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.
