Social Security offices close on June 19
The United States government has confirmed all the Federal holidays for 2024. In case you are new to the United States or you cannot remember when Federal holidays are, Juneteenth National Independence Day will be celebrated on June 19.
Social Security never sends payments on the weekend or on a holiday. That is why some SSDI and retirement recipients collect a payment on June 18 rather than June 19.
Not only will the Administration close on June 19, July 4 will be another closing day. As you may already know, Independence Day is the reason why SSA’s offices will be closed on July 4.
Social Security offers online services
The Administration claims that you can apply for retirement benefits online. Therefore, there is no need to visit an office on June 19 or July 4 if those are the days you had planned to make an appointment.
Apart from retirement benefits, American workers can apply for Medicare and disability benefits online too. What is more, you can check the status of your appeal or application.
If you have lost or had your SSA card stolen, you can get a new one online using SSA’s online services. Some citizens may need to have a benefit verification letter and they are also available online. Anyway, do not forget that SSA’s offices will be close on June 19 and July 4.
