Supplemental Security Income recipients who are still eligible will get a payment of up to $1,415 if they are married. The SSI maximum benefit for individuals is worth $943.
Do not forget that to get SSI you must have a low income. Those recipients whose financial situation improves must report it since they could qualify for a lower payment or they could even lose eligibility. If you have lower earnings, report it too since you may receive more money.
SSI payments are for seniors aged 65+, blind people, and people with disabilities. If your disability disappears, you must also inform Social Security about this change.
SOCIAL SECURITY REVEALS THE LATEST AVERAGE SSI PAYMENTS
Even if those Americans on SSI can receive up to $943 or up to $1,415 if they are single or married, Social Security claims that average payments are much lower.
The smallest amount SSI recipients get on average is $574 according to Social Security. This is the average payment for those aged 65 years old or older. Then goes those aged 18-64, who can receive about $743 on average.
Social Security said that the average payment for the under 18s is the largest one since they are worth $815. All these SSI payments make an average amount of $698. Still, it is quite a lot of money if you live on a shoestring budget and find it difficult to make ends meet.
