A new payment for eligible retirees is on its way this week. The Social Security Administration has confirmed when millions of American seniors can receive their money in September and October.
As a matter of fact, September 25 will be the next Social Security payment and also the last one this month. Bear in mind that the Agency will only send money to those who meet all the requirements and got approval. SSI payments will come after retirement checks and direct deposits.
September 25 eligibility criteria for Social Security
If you qualified for retirement benefits and you did not receive a check or direct deposit, this September 25 payment must be for you. But it is important to check that you meet all the requirements:
- you must have been born after the 20th of any month
- you cannot be receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- you did not receive your first benefit before May 1997
- you have not broken any Social Security rules and remain eligible
As for the maximum payment amount the check or direct deposit on September 25, a retiree can receive up to $4,873. However, it is more than likely that the amount you get from Social Security is closer to the average payment of $1,920.
October payment schedule for Social Security
If you have already received your money from Social Security in September, you should pay close attention to the upcoming paydays for October. In this way, you can arrange your monthly budget.
October 1 will be the payday for SSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients in the United States. 48 hours after the SSI payment, retirees can receive a check or direct deposit if they got benefits before May 1997 or if they are also receiving SSI payments while on retirement benefits.
So, October 3 will be a really important date for millions of retirees. Those who are not on SSI and did not collect payments before May 1997 can receive money from SSA on October 9, 16, and 23. It will depend on your birthday whether you get your money early in the month or not. Birthdays from 1-10, 11-20 or 21-31, and paydays on the 9th, 16th, and 23rd respectively.

- Create a my Social Security account at www.ssa.gov/myaccount if you don’t already have one. You’ll need to provide some personal information to verify your identity.
- Sign in to your my Social Security account. If you created your account before September 18, 2021, you may need to transition to a Login.gov or ID.me account for access.
- Once signed in, you can view your benefit payment schedule to see the dates of your upcoming and past payments. The payment date depends on your birthday and the type of benefit you receive.
