August 28 will be the last Social Security Disability Insurance payment this month. Then, SSDI recipients will have to wait until September 3 to receive their money.
Of course, only some SSDI beneficiaries qualify for the first payment in September. The rest of them will have to wait until the second, third, or fourth Wednesday in September.
SSDI eligibility on September 3
The Social Security Administration will issue the next SSDI payments to those disability benefit recipients who meet one of the two following conditions:
- recipients must be receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), a payment for low-income recipients, while they get SSDI.
- beneficiaries must have been receiving Social Security Disability Insurance benefits since before May 1997
Those disability recipients who do not qualify for the Social Security Disability Insurance on September 3 will have to pay close attention to their birth date. This is the way the Administration arranges the Wednesday payments.
SSDI payments on Wednesdays
Depending on when your birthday is earlier or later in the month, you may receive a payment sooner or later. For example, if you are born before the 11th, your next disability payment will be sent on September 11.
In case you did not know, it will be three days before the August payment was due for this group of recipients. The second round of disbursement will take place on September 18 if your birthday is from 11-20.
The last payday will be on September 25 if your were born after the 20th. AS for the average payments, SSDI get on average $1,538. If you were a really high earner for 35 years or more, and had jobs covered by SSA, you could receive up to $3,822 if you filed as late as possible.
Keep in mind that recipients who have a really low income can apply for SSI (Supplemental Security Income). This is a Federal payment that helps retirees and disability recipients make ends meet.
