Some S.S.D.I. recipients have received the last disability benefit payment in July on the 24th. Therefore, it is time to start planning the budget for August and see when you can have your money in your bank account.
August 2 will be the first SSDI payment next month. It may be surprising if you are new to Disability Insurance and you always got disability benefits on the third. But this change is due to the fact that August 3 is Saturday and SSA always sends money on a business day. So, it will be due on Friday, August 2, and not Saturday.
SSDI payments after August 2
Before moving on to the SSDI payments on August 14, 21, and 28, let’s explain the eligibility for the check or direct deposit on August 2. To get money on August 2 you must have been on Social Security Disability Insurance before May 1997. Or, to be on both SSDI and SSI.
Those who are on SSDI but do not qualify for the August 2 payment, must have been born on specific days. For example:
- August 14: payment for those whose birthday is from 1-10
- August 21: check or direct deposits for recipients born after the 10th and before the 21st
- August 28: money for those whose birth date is after the 20th
- SSDI recipients getting SSI benefits will get them on August 1 & August 30
SSDI payment amounts in August
The amount of your Disability Insurance payment will depend on your work history. For example, if you just worked for ten years, your payment may be lower than the average $1,537.
High earners who worked for 35 years and get Disability Insurance can receive the largest payment, up to $3,822. However, this is very unlikely because the requirements are almost impossible to attain for millions of Americans.
SSDI can also send money to spouses and children of workers with a disability. A spouse may receive about $420 on average and children about $493, so it can be a supplement to the worker’s check or direct deposit.
