SSDI may get Social Security on June 3, but this is not the only payday

SSDI may get Social Security on June 3, but this is not the only payday

Disability benefits come in the form of SSI or SSDI. Since the Supplemental Security Income was due on May 31 (payday for June), only disability insurance benefits are left.

June 3 is a payday for those on both SSI and Social Security Disability Insurance. However, if you are on SSDI before May 1997, you will also qualify for this payment on the third.

Next payment dates for SSDI

Disability Insurance beneficiaries who do not get the June 3 check because they do not qualify, could receive money in their bank accounts on 3 possible paydays.

For example, if your birthday is from 1-10, your disability payment will be due on June 12. Therefore, it will arrive on the second Wednesday in June. The third Wednesday cannot be a payday though.

Since Wednesday, June 19 is a Federal holiday, the Social Security Administration will send an SSDI payment on June 18 instead. To get it, your birthday must be from 11-20. June 26 will be the payment date for disability recipients whose birthday is from 21-31.

SSDI maximum benefit amount in June

Although retirees can receive checks of up to $4,873, Disability Insurance recipients can only get $3,822. This is because they cannot delay retirement until they are 70 because of their disability.

Average SSDI payments can be about $1,537. They slightly decreased but went back to the same amount as they were in January 2024. Do not forget that if you apply for Disability Insurance, your spouse and children may qualify for benefits too. Their amounts may be lower than 500 dollars but will come in handy.

Make sure you report any improvement in your condition or impairment because it may affect your eligibility and payment amount. In this way, you can avoid overpayments. To get SSDI you must have a disability that prevents you from working for over a year and have earned enough work credits.
