SSDI payments are only for American workers who have paid enough payroll taxes to Social Security and have a qualifying disability that prevents them from working for over a year.
If you have not applied and received Social Security’s approval, you are not eligible for the upcoming SSDI payments in October 2024. After the checks sent out on October 3 and 9, there are 2 paydays left this month. See below eligibility and amounts.
Who qualifies for the next SSDI payments in October?
Since it’s already the second week in October, some disability beneficiaries have collected their Social Security checks. However, some will not receive their money until next week.
For example, if you qualify for the October 16 payment for SSDI, you must:
- have filed after April 30, 1997
- got approval
- not break any SSA’s rule
- do not receive SSI while on SDI
- have been born from 11-20, regardless of the month or year you were born
Those who have to wait until October 23 to receive money from Social Security have very similar requirements. The only change will be the birth date condition. So, your birthday must fall from the 21st to the 31st.
What are the payment amounts for SSDI on October 16 and 23?
The Social Security Administration can send maximum amounts of up to $3,822 in any of the October payments. However, average payments are more frequent among disability recipients.
As of August 2024, the average payment for SSDI recipients is worth $1,539. If your payment is lower than that, you may even qualify for Supplemental Security Income.
So, you could apply for it if you meet the other SSI requirements. Do not forget that if you have had a child or you have just got married, they may also qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance payments. In this way, your family could get extra money on your record every month.
