SSDI and the the August payment amounts for disability

Disability benefits can be either SSI (Supplemental Security Income) or SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance). SSI only sends checks of up to $943 (single) or $1,415 (married).

However, SSDI recipients can get up to $3,822. It will depend on your background and work history if you qualify for the largest Social Security Disability Insurance payment in 2024 in the USA.

Who will receive a $3,822 SSDI check in August?

This large disability benefit payment will be for those who have been really high earners as workers and filed as late as possible. For example, to get it, you must have worked for a minimum of 35 years.

That is something really challenging when it comes to disability benefits. Usually, a disability develops at a young age preventing many workers from continuing in their jobs.

What is more, they must have earned the taxable maximum for 35 years. Early filing will prevent SSDI recipients from getting $3,822. Of course, do not forget that this money is only for those who had jobs covered by SSA. If you did not pay taxes as you work, you are not eligible.

Who will receive a $1,537 SSDI check in August?

As a matter of fact, this is a much more reasonable amount when it comes to achievement difficulty. This is an average payment for those on SSDI as of June 2024.

It does not mean that all disability recipients qualify, some may get higher payments but others lower ones. Remember that SSDI can also be for spouses and children who qualify.

Thus, apart from getting an average payment, your household can get extra money. For instance, spouses of workers with a disability can receive about $420 and children about $493 on average. Those recipients who get the lowest Disability Insurance payments can apply for Supplemental Security Income as well.  In this way they can get extra money from the Federal government.
