Having a low income can cause a lot of difficulties in saving money, paying off debt or mortgage, and simply getting by. SSI recipients usually get a new payment on the first day of the month.
This will be the case in the months of July and August. SSI recipients will receive money from the Federal government on July 1 and August 1. So, direct deposits and checks will arrive on time, with no delays at all.
SSI alert for the next advanced payment
Supplemental Security Income recipients should know that there will be an advanced payment on August 30, 2024. Even if you receive this money on August 30, it is not for August.
This SSI payment will be sent by the end of August but it is the Supplemental Security Income payment for September. Social Security cannot send money on Sundays.
September 1 is Sunday and it should have been the normal payday for those recipients of Supplemental Security Income. SSA sends money on the previous business day when it is a Federal holiday or on the weekend.
Other upcoming advanced SSI payments
Not surprisingly, there will be 2 more advanced payments before 2025 comes. October 1 will be the SSI payment date for all recipient who qualify. But there will be advanced payments in November and December.
Even if you receive SSI on November 1, there will be a payment for December on November 29. This advanced payment is possible because December 1 falls on a Sunday.
January 1 is also a Federal holiday. So, the payment for January 1 will be sent in advance on December 31. This payment will bring the 2025 COLA boost, which is about 2.6% according to the latest predictions from the Seniors Citizen League.
The maximum amounts for all Supplemental Security Income payments for 2024 are $943 for single recipients and $1,415 for married beneficiaries. If you get a low check for SSDI or retirement, apply for this benefit and get both of them.
