SSI update: upcoming months with 2 different payment dates

Social Security unveils SSI payments

The Supplemental Security Income program always sends 12 payments per year. Even if there is no SSI payment scheduled in several months, they are simply sent in advance.

This is because the Social Security Administration always sends money on weekdays which are business days.  By doing so, payments are always on time. Otherwise, there could be unnecessary delays causing trouble for low-income families on SSI.

Which month will have 2 SSI payments in 2024?

August and November will have 2 Supplemental Security Income payments. The first check or direct deposit will be due on August 1, 2024. However, the second payment is not a bonus or extra payment.

In fact, it will be the SSI payment for September 1 arriving on August 30, 2024. So, millions of recipients will get their money 2 days before the common payday for Supplemental Security Income.

Thus, if you have a look at the Social Security payment schedule for September there is no SSI check. But do not worry because it will be sent on Friday, August 30, rather than Sunday, September 1, 2024.

2 SSI checks in November

The next month after August with 2 Supplemental Security Income paydays will be November. The firs payment will be arriving in recipients’ bank accounts on November 1.

The SSI payment for December will be due on November 29. In this case, December 1 is not a holiday but a weekend. So the Administration had to reschedule this payment.

In December, only one SSI payment has been scheduled. However, it is the payment from January 2025. In fact, it will bring the 2025 COLA increase which may be about $2.63 after the latest projections.

As for the Supplemental Security Income amounts, direct deposits can be up to $943 if you are an individual. Essential persons can receive up to $472. Married couples can get up to $1,415 if they are both eligible. Apply for this benefit for seniors or people with a disabilitynow if you have a low income or help someone file.
