The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program does not always send the monthly payments on the same day. Generally, direct deposits and checks are issued on the first day of the month. However, these days can sometimes fall on the weekend or even on a Federal holiday. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has to reschedule the paydays whenever this happens.
As a consequence, the SSI payment on December 1 has been changed to a previous date. Since it will not be viable to send it on December 1, the Social Security Administration has scheduled the direct deposits and checks for November 29. That is 48 hours or 2 days in advance.
How much money will SSI recipients get on November 29, 2024?
If you remain eligible and your financial or personal situation has not changed, you will receive the same amount as on November 1, 2024. On average, SSI payments are about $697, down from 698 dollars in the previous monthly snapshot given by SSA. Check all possible payment amounts below:
- Average Supplemental Security Income for all beneficiaries: $697
- Average Supplemental Security Income for the under 18 group: $813
- Average Supplemental Security Income for those recipients aged 18-64: $743
- Average Supplemental Security Income for those beneficiaries aged 65 or 65+: $574
Those SSI recipients who have just gotten married, have started working or have had any other important changes in their lives must report it. This is because your payment amount may be different. Sometimes it could be higher or sometimes lower. It will depend on the circumstances.
Will the November 29 SSI payment include the cost-of-living adjustment (2025 COLA)?
The SSI payment for December, due on November 29, 2024, will not bring the 2025 COLA increase. In fact, recipients will have to wait until December 31, 2024, to take advantage of the 2025 COLA increase.
While all Social Security recipients on retirement or disability (SSDI) benefits will have to wait until January 2025 to get 2.5% extra, those on Supplemental Security Income will get it much sooner.
Bear in mind that retirees and SSDI beneficiaries will get their first January payments from January 3 through January 22, 2025. Apply for SSI if you have a low income and little or no resources.
