The Social Security Administration warns SSI recipients they must report important changes. Bear in mind that these benefits may not last forever since it is only for those who have a low income and little or no resources.
First of all, you must report to Social Security any change in income. For example, an Supplemental Security Income recipient may have changes in their employment status or may have an increase in their salary.
SSI RECIPIENTS MUST ALSO REPORT:
Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries must report changes in resources. For instance, you must let Social Security know if you have a new property, car, or more money in your bank account.
Jobs may also affect your SSI amounts. That is why Social Security wants you to report if you change jobs, stop working, or begin working. But changes to report are not over yet.
As a matter of fact, SSI recipients should also remember to inform SSA when a person moves in or out of their home. Household size may affect your amount and eligibility.
NEW MARITAL STATUS WHILE ON SSI BENEFITS
If you receive Supplemental Security Income, and you get married, report it too. Reporting a new marital status is mandatory. So, you must also report SSA if you get divorced.
Some Americans may have to enter or exit a nursing home while on Supplemental Security Income. Beneficiaries must also report it. That also applies to prisons, jail,s or correctional institutions.
Finally, another thing SSI recipients must report is a change in their citizenship. To report your wages SSA recommends using their free Mon¡bile Wage Reporting Tool or my Social Security Online Wage Reporting Tool.
Some Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries may want to call Social Security to inform them about any changes. All they have to do is call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). Visiting a local office is also a possibility.
