STATES SNAP BENEFITS

SNAP benefits can come in handy for those low-income families in the USA. Making ends meet has become more challenging every month. Food prices keep going up and they do not seem to be going down in the short term. Luckily, this Federal program, which is the most important one, is available in all the states.

However, you may wonder if it is available in Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. It is available in all states and U.S. territories. The Food and Nutrition Service provides citizens with a State Directory of Resources. There you can find where the closest SNAP office is, and contact details if necessary.

Despite the fact that it is available in all states and territories, the amounts you might get are not the same. Some states may provide citizens with higher SNAP checks than others. So, if you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands, you should check the right amount with your SNAP office.

What is the SNAP amount for the 48 contiguous states and the District of Columbia?

To be able to know the amount of your SNAP, there are several things to take into account. Income, work, earnings, etc. If you qualify because you meet all the requirements, and are eligible for the maximum amount a single person can get up to 281 dollars. This amount will keep increasing if there are more family members.

The higher the family, the higher the SNAP check. So, having a two-member family can allow you to get a maximum of 516 dollars. Three-member families will get up to $740. Remember that the amount you get may be lower. For example, this type of family normally gets about 577 dollars. But it is still a lot of money to save.

If you live in Alaska a three-member family can receive up to $923 (urban), $1,177 (rural 1), and $1,432 (rural 2). In Hawaii, it could be for 3 people $1,413. In Guam, up to 1,090 dollars for a household of three. Last but not least, Virgin Island citizens can collect up to $951 if they are three members. Each extra member of the family will make the SNAP amount increase.
