In 2024, the month of February is of special interest because, as it happens every four years, it will have 29 days. This fact is an anomaly due to the fact that the Earth does not take 365 days exactly to go around the Sun.

Although currently two payments have already been made in the month of February, day 1 for SSI beneficiaries and day 2 for those who have applied for retirement before 1997, it is not until day 14 that the first Social Security payment is made for those who were born between the 1st and 10th of any month.

The average Social Security payment for February stands at $1,907, while the maximum payment rises to $59,520 annually.

To be clear on when you’ll receive your payment, you’ll need to know the February schedule:

Born 1 through 10: Feb. 14
Born 11 through 20: February 21
Born from 21 to 31: February 28th

In the event that you receive one of these payments, it is possible that it will be delayed by up to 3 days, which is normal for Social Security. If this is not the case, check with your office.
