The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (the former Food Stamps program) is a federal program. However, each State can choose when to send the money to those citizens on SNAP benefits.
Even if the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) through the Food and Nutrition Service funds Food Stamps, States can decide whether to send one payment for all beneficiaries or send it throughout the month.
For example, Alaska sent it on the first of December, so there will not be another payment until January 1. It is true that sometimes there have been delays in Alaska, but that is not very frequent and Food Stamps are usually on time.
WHICH STATES WILL FINISH SENDING FOOD STAMPS ON DECEMBER 23?
Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, and Maryland are the States that are sending SNAP checks through December 23. Nevertheless, not all of them arrange payments in the same way.
Some may prefer to send payments depending on your Social Security Number, others take the first letter of the client’s last name, and others the case number. But these are not the only options, so let’s have a look at the way Food Stamps will arrive in these 5 States.
Alabama started sending SNAP benefits on December 4 and they use the last two digits of the client’s case number. December 14 will be payday if your case number ends in 50-54. December 23 will be the last payment for those whose case number ends in 95-99.
Delaware started sending money on December 2. In their case, they use the first letter of the beneficiaries’ last name. Those citizens on Food Stamps whose first letter of the last name is M will get it on December 14. If it is Q or R on December 18, U or V on December 21, and finally, X, Y, or Z on December 23.
GEORGIA USES SNAP BENEFICIARIES’S LAST TWO DIGITS OF THEIR ID
The next payment will arrive on December 15 in Georgia. If your ID ends in 50-59, you will receive Food Stamps on December 15. December 17 will follow the Dec. 15 payment. But only if the ID number ends in 60-69.
Indiana also uses the first letter of the recipient’s last name. Every two days there is a payment starting on December 5 and finishing on December 23. -for example, the December 15 payday will be for you if the letter of your last name begins with M or N.
Have a look at the last digit of your Social Security Number if you live in Louisiana. The next payments will be on December 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23. The SSN must end in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 respectively.
Last, but not least, Maryland. The SNAP office uses the first three letters of your last name. For instance, if it is KIN – LOX your Food Stamps will be on your EBT card on December 14. The maximum amount of these checks will be $1,751 if you are 8 people. Or $973 if you are 4. A single person can get up to $291.
