Maybe, you are a Social Security recipient and you will not receive your monthly payment on November 27. This may be because you have already received your check or direct deposit on November 1, 13, or 20. Payments are expected to be on time, so no worries about it. In case you qualify for the Nov. 27 payday, contact your bank if you do not receive your payment on that day.
Some financial institutions may take a little longer to issue payments, but if it takes more than 3 mailing days contact SSA. The payments which will be delivered after November 27 will start on December 3 for retirees. Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries will get it on November 29, 2024.
December 3, the first Social Security payment date for eligible retirees
2 completely different groups of recipients will collect a check or deposit on the third of next month. To qualify for money on that date you can get it:
- if you received Social Security before May 1997 or
- if getting both Social Security & Supplemental Security Income
*SSI will be paid on December 1 and Social Security on December 3
After the December 3 payments, there will be 3 more paydays for eligible retirees. They will be issued on December 11, 18 and 24. Of course, the birth date requirement is mandatory. If born from 1-10, check on the 11th. Those whose birthday is from 11-20 on the 18th, the rest on the 24.
Social Security amounts after Nov. 27 and details about the last payday
Since the last time the Agency updated the average payments for retired workers was in November, and the amount was for October, checks are expected to be slightly higher on average next month.
That has been confirmed by the COLA fact sheet, since it states that the average amount before the COLA increase will be about $1,927. The maximum payment amount in December will be $4,873.
The last payment date for retirees in December will not be on a Wednesday. This is because December 25 is a Federal Holiday and the checks will not be issued on that day but on the previous one, December 24.
