The Social Security Administration recommends waiting for three mailing days if you do not receive your payment on the exact payday. Some seniors may have had their monthly checks stolen, they may be late or even lost.
It is also advisable to contact the bank or financial institution in charge of sending your Social Security payment. Sometimes they may have problems issuing a payment on time or they may be experiencing technical difficulties.
After waiting for 3 mailing days for Social Security payments
The Social Security Administration claims that you must report a late, missing or stolen payment by calling them at 1-800-772-1213 or if you are deaf or hard of hearing TTY 1-800-325-0778.
Another possibility for recipients who have not gotten their monthly payment on time is to visit their local office. In this case, an agent may be able to find out why your payment is late, missing or stolen.
Once they review your case, they will decide whether the payments need to be replaced or not. If it is still due, it will be replaced as soon as possible. Some may lose Social Security for breaking the rules.
Missing payment on September 18 or 25
If your payment is not sent on time on September 18 or 25, and you qualify for one of them, you can do the same as for the September 11 payment. Call SSA toll-free at 1-800-772-1213.
Make sure you have not broken any Social Security rules. For example, if you go to prison for over 30 consecutive days, your Social Security benefits will stop. It does not matter if it is a prison, jail, or any other penal institution.
By law, the Administration cannot pay retirement benefits to someone who is confined in an institution at public expense in connection with a criminal case if you are found guilty.
