September 3 has arrived and with it a new Social Security payment for those on retirement benefits before May 1997 and those who also receive Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI) in the United States in 2024.
But Social Security retirement benefit payments have simply started and they will continue through the last week in September. Since those who have collected their payments on the third do not qualify for any of the remaining checks or direct deposits in September, check eligibility for the largest payments.
Largest Social Security payments in September
September 3 is one of the paydays that recipients can receive the largest payments, if eligible, as long as they filed and got benefits before May 1997. Those on retirement and SSI do not qualify because they have a low income.
September 11, 2024, will be the next payday when retirees can get the largest Social Security check or direct deposit if they meet all the requirements that the Administration set. Money will be issued on September 11 for those whose birthday is from 1-10 of any month.
September 18 will be the second round of these Wednesday payments, of course, if your birthday is due on the 11th or up to the 20th. The last payment date with the largest retirement benefit will be on September 25 if your birthday is after the 20th.
Largest payment amount for Social Security retirement beneficiaries in September
Some retirees have been really successful workers and they qualify for the largest Social Security payment in September 2024. To do so, they have:
- filed at the age of 70
- worked for a minimum of 35 years but often longer
- earned the taxable maximum for 35 years
- had jobs covered by SSA
If you have achieved all these things, you can receive up to $4,873 in September. However, if you meet almost all the requirements but you file at 62, you can only receive up to $2,710. Filing at Full Retirement Age means you can only get up to $3,822.
