SSI or the Supplemental Security Income benefits is usually due on the first day of the month. However, it is not possible for the Social Security Administration to schedule payments on weekends or Federal holidays.

In fact, there will be no issues on July 1 or August 1. Therefore, all recipients will get their money on the first days of these 2 months. However, September is a different story.

No SSI payment on September 1

September 1 falls on Sunday, so the Social Security Administration has had to re-schedule this Supplemental Security Income payment. Instead, it will be arriving on the previous business day.

SSI will be due on August 30. Bear in mind that this money is for the September payment. Hence, you should save it for the expenses you have next month. As this is not extra money or a bonus payment, you’d better save it and spend it wisely.

So, if you have a look at the Social Security’s payment schedule, it seems that there is no Supplemental Security Income payment in September. The thing is recipients will receive this money 48 hours in advance.

Which recipients can receive the 2 payments in August?

All SSI recipients who remain eligible will get a payment for August on August 1 and the one for September on August 30, 2024. If you get higher earnings than in the past, you may not qualify.

SSI is for low-income seniors aged at least 65, blind people, and people with a disability. Some children may also qualify if they have a disability or are blind. That is why getting extra money may make you ineligible.

The maximum amounts recipients can receive on August 1 and 30 will be $943 (single) and $1,415 (married). Essential persons who are on SSI can get up to $472. All these payments include the 2024 COLA increase. There will not be a COLA boost until December 31.
