The current maximum amount for SSI payments depends on the type of recipient you are. For example, an eligible married couple can get up to $1,415 in 2024. Once the January 2025 payments are issued, Supplemental Security Income payments will go up by 2.5%. So, an eligible married couple will receive up to $1,450.
If you are an individual on SSI, you will receive up to $967 for 2025, up from $943. Essential persons can get up to $484 in 2025 and up to $472 in 2024. However, the average payment for those seniors aged 65 or older is $575 in November 2024. Therefore, this group of recipients will get about $589 before 2025 comes.
SSI will be due on December 31, 2024
The next SSI payment for January 2025 will be delivered to recipients bank accounts on December 31, 2024. Remember that this is not an extra payment and it will be one of the 12 checks for 2025.
As a matter of fact, it will just arrive 24 hours ahead of schedule because January 1, that is New Year, is a Federal Holiday. Since Federal holidays cannot be paydays, the money needs to be issued 1 day before the due date.
Not surprisingly, the SSI payment for February will be due on January 31, 2025. Feburay 1 falls on Saturday, so the Supplemental Security Income payment will be delivered on a business day instead of at the weekend.
