The iconic post-hardcore band Helmet has made the difficult decision to cancel their much-anticipated 2024 North American tour.

Once hailed as “post-hardcore icons” by Loudwire.com, Helmet rose to fame in the early-to-mid ’90s. However, even with their legendary status, the band has faced challenges in bringing their latest tour to fruition.

Helmet Cancels 2024 North American Tour

According to a statement given to Loudwire, Helmet cited a combination of significant financial concerns and lower than expected ticket sales as the primary reasons for the cancellation. These issues have been a common hurdle for many artists this year.

“The cancellation is caused by a mix of significant financial concerns and lower than expected ticket sales, which is a common problem for many artists this year,” the band explained to Loudwire. “We look forward to getting back out on the road in 2025.”

Fans of Helmet can take solace in the band’s commitment to return to the stage next year, promising a 2025 tour that will hopefully overcome the current obstacles.

Among the canceled dates was a highly anticipated stop on September 26 at Lovedraft’s Brewing in Mechanicsburg.

Although the North American leg of the tour has been called off, fans can look forward to the band continuing their European tour as planned.

Message from the Frontman

Founder and frontman Page Hamilton shared with Loudwire, “As much as we’d love to be getting back out on the road and playing, this one was not lining up well for us. We’re excited about the upcoming November/December European tour which is looking great, and we will reconvene in 2025 for more US dates.”

Helmet first began playing in 1989 and continued until 1998 before taking a break. The band reunited in 2003 and has been active since, with their latest album, Left, released in 2023.
