Throughout the United States, in order to know perfectly what the Social Security payment schedule is, we only need to check a few data. Retirement payments follow a fixed schedule for all states equally, unlike other benefits such as SNAP, for example.
While SNAP checks may arrive on different days depending on the State in which we live, all Social Security retirees get payment on the same day if they belong to the same group. In total, the Administration divides retirees into four different groups. Each of these groups gets its benefit on a different day.
Keep in mind that each retiree gets only 1 check per month. This means that if you have already received your payment on the 3rd or the 11th of October you will not be able to get the next payment. There are still 2 payments due in the month of October, so if you have not received your Social Security on the days listed above, you may be able to get it on one of the following days.
Just knowing your year of retirement and your date of birth will be enough to know the exact day the Administration will send your check during the month. Whether we get it on the same day or not will depend on whether we have activated Direct Deposit as a form of payment or not. But the essential thing is to know when the check will be sent.
WHEN IS THE NEXT SOCIAL SECURITY CHECK AND WHO WILL CASH IT?
The next Social Security check for October 2023 will be on the 18th of the month. On this day, which is the third Wednesday in October, retirees who meet two requirements will be able to cash the check.
In order to get this benefit we must pass two filters related to our personal information. These are the two requirements to be met in order to collect the retirement or disability benefit on October 18th:
- Having applied for Social Security retirement after 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month. Both days are included in the list.
And nothing else, since the other requirement is linked to whether we want to get the payment on the same day or not. By having a birthday between the 11th and 20th of the month and having applied for retirement after 1997, we will be able to enjoy the payment of up to $4,555 maximum within just a few days.
WHEN WILL I GET MY RETIREMENT CHECK WITHOUT DIRECT DEPOSIT?
As we have already mentioned, in order to receive your Social Security payment on the same day it is required to activate Direct Deposit. This method of collecting benefits is immediate, which means that we can use our retirement money on the same day of October 18th if we are part of the group that will get the payment very soon.
Retirees who do not have this collection method activated will get the money up to three days after it is sent. So if the Administration sends it on the 18th the payment could arrive on the 19th or 20th. In some cases, as the 21st day is a weekend, the payment could take until the 23rd to arrive.
In the event that our payment takes more than 3 days to arrive, we should claim it first from the bank and then from the Administration. It is not at all usual for the payment to take longer than that time to arrive, so claim your benefit before it is too late.
