Retirees in the United States may have not received their Social Security check or direct deposit for December yet. December 11 will be your payday if you were born from the first to the tenth. Of course, you must have filed and gotten approval after April 30, 1997. If you are on Supplemental Security Income, you cannot receive this check on the 11th.
As for the amount, it will depend on your earnings. This is just the average retirement benefit for December, so $1,927 is just one of the many possibilities. If you were not a high earner, you would not receive the largest benefit payment of up to $4,873.
Social Security payment of $1,927 in one week
If you did not receive your payment on December 3 and do not qualify for the check or direct deposit on December 11, there are 2 more opportunities. The closest in time will be issued on December 18.
The Administration has confirmed the December 18 payment for Social Security if your birthday is from 11-20. Those retirees who qualify began getting benefits after April 30, 1997, too. They cannot be on SSI either.
Similarly, other retirees will get their check or deposit from Social Security on December 24, rather than Wednesday, December 25. This is because the 25th is a Federal Holiday. So, payments need to be sent in advance.
Requirements for Social Security in December 2024 or January 2025
