Deadlines are extremely important when it comes to taxes. Missing them can result in penalties or interest payments. That is why the IRS has just reminded taxpayers in three States to file before the approaching deadline.
This reminder is for both businesses and individuals. Therefore, it is of vital importance that they make their tax payments and they filed their returns before the deadline is over.
Which States may be affected by the approaching deadline the IRS reminded?
Although this reminder is not for the whole State, part of them will need to file their 2023 tax return said the IRS. There are just a few days left, so it is time to hurry.
Parts of Rhode Island, Maine, and Alaska will have to file the 2023 tax returns. Do not forget to pay your taxes. Pay all the taxes you owe. Even those who filed for an extension must pay their tax liability.
Some places get relief from the Internal Revenue Service when there is a natural disaster. So, if they are a designated area by the FEMA, they need to watch out for this approaching deadline.
When is the deadline to file in parts of Alaska, Maine, and Rhode Island?
The IRS has set Monday, July 15, 2024, as the last day to file their 2024 tax returns and to pay their taxes. Make sure your address is located in a FEMA-designated area.
There is no need to apply for this filing and tax payment extension because it is automatically extended. Getting extra time may not be enough for some, but it will give them time to get over such a difficult situation.
The eligible areas are four counties in Rhode Island (Washington, Providence, Newport and Kent), The Wrangell Cooperative Association of Alaska Tribal Nation, and 8 counties in Maine (York, Washington, Waldo, Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, Hancock, and Cumberland)
