The Social Security Administration (SSA) has announced when retirement benefits payments will be delivered to eligible recipient’s bank accounts in late September.
Although there will be a new payment for retirees on September 11 and September 18, others need to wait longer. For example, those who receive their money on the fourth Wednesday of September.
Latest Social Security payment in September
September 25 will be when eligible seniors will receive their Social Security retirement benefit payment. But how do you know if you qualify for this or any of the other 2 payments?
How to check if you qualify for the September 25 payment:
- you are not eligible for Supplemental Security Income
- you started receiving Social Security after April 30, 1997
- your birth date is on one of the last 10 or 11 days of the month
- you filed, got approval, and have not broken SSA’s rules
Those retirees who were born from the 1st to the 10th will get money on the 11th. If your payment is due on September 18, your birthday must be from the 11th to the 20th.
Will all Social Security recipients get $1,919 in mid or late-September?
No, the amount of your Social Security retirement benefit payment depends on your background. For example, if you filed at 62, just worked for 10 years, and had a low salary, your direct deposit will be low.
However, SSA claims that on average, all retired workers get about $1,919. Some retirees may even get a lot more. This is because they were high earners for over 34 years and filed at 70.
Not having jobs covered by SSA may result in being ineligible for retirement benefits. So, if you are still working, make sure you maximize your Social Security benefits to get a higher payment. In fact, retirees can get up to $4,873 in September 2024.
