Some retirees are receiving a Social Security payment worth $4,873 if they meet all the conditions. Others may qualify but for an average payment worth $1,919. It will depend on your work and filing history the amount you can receive from SSA.
Regardless of the payment amount, there is a Social Security direct deposit or check coming on September 11. As a matter of fact, it is the first round out of three. Those who are receiving retirement benefits and did not get money yet need to check eligibility to receive money in the following weeks.
Eligibility: Social Security on 9/11
For your information, you must have been receiving retirement benefits after April 30, 1997, to get money on September 11. What is more, you must have been born from the 1st to the 10th.
Those who are in a similar situation but were born from the 11th to the 20th will receive their money on September 18, 2024. The last payment date on September 25 will only be for those retirees whose birthday is after the 20th.
That is from the 21st to the 31st. The maximum amount they may qualify is $4,873 although the average payments may be more frequent. Those who got benefits before May 1997 will get Social Security on October 3. If you are on retirement benefits and SSI too, your next payment will also be October 3, 2024.
$4,873 from Social Security on Sep. 11
The thing is you must have worked for 35 years in jobs covered by the Social Security Administration while you earned the taxable maximum all those years and filed at the age of 70. Have a look at the checklist to see if you meet all the essential requirements to get $4,873 in 2024:
- have filed when you turn 70 years old, but not before that age
- worked for 35 years
- you paid enough Social Security taxes as you worked
- earned the contribution and benefit base (taxable maximum) for 35 years
- did not break any rules from SSA
Filing before the age of 70 is ok but it reduces your payment amount. For example, if you file at 62, you get a reduction worth 30% in most cases. The largest payment at 62 is $2,710 while it is $3,822 at Full Retirement Age.
