SNAP or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is already sending checks in many States. Even if it is a Federal program, State agencies can arrange paydays and applications.
Food Stamps are essential to fight food insecurity in the United States. Two States are sending SNAP benefits from February 4 onward. Alabama and Arkansas are the two States that begin sending money today.
While Alabama uses the last 2 digits of the SNAP beneficiaries’ case numbers, Arkansas uses their Social Security Numbers (SSN). Arkansas will send Food Stamps for 8 days. Alabama will send them through February 23.
SNAP PAYDAYS IN ALABAMA AND ARKANSAS
To get Food Stamps on February 4, you must have a case number that ends in 00-04. Then, if your case number ends in 05-09, your payday will be on February 5.
February 6 and 7 will be paydays if your case numbers are 10-14 or 15-19 respectively. Those whose case numbers end in 20-24 will get SNAP benefits on February 8. As you can see, it follows the same pattern all the time. The last payday will be for those whose case number in Alabama is 95-99 on Feb.23.
Arkansas will be sending SNAP checks until February 13. For example, if your Social Security Number ends in 0 or 1, you get your money on your Electronic Benefits Transfer card on February 4.
If your SSN ends in 2 or 3, you will receive SNAP benefits in Arkansas on February 5. February 8 will be your payday if your SSN ends in 4. Those whose SSNs end in 5 will get Food Stamps on the 9. Those with SSNs ending in 6, 7, 8, or 9 will get it on the 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th respectively.
FOOD STAMP AMOUNTS IN ARKANSAS AND ALABAMA
The SNAP amounts will depend on your earnings and personal circumstances. However, it is possible to know the maximum amounts, which is the same as those in the 48 contiguous States and the District of Columbia.
A person who lives alone can get up to $291 if eligible. Two people on SNAP benefits can receive up to $535. If you are a family of 3, you could get up to $766 or up to $973 if you are 4.
Five-member families can receive up to $1,155, but it could be up to $1,386 if you are 6. Families with 7 members can get SNAP benefits worth up to $1,532. The largest benefit is for those who are 8, it could be up to $1,751.
For your information, average payments are lower. So, do not expect the full amount unless you have no money and resources at all and meet all the requirements to get it.
