The Social Security Administration is in charge of setting the dates for SSI, SSDI, and retirement benefits in the United States. Having a look at the payment schedule for May, there is great news for SSI recipients.
This Federal government program is for low-income families in the United States. The thing is they usually receive their payment on the first day of the month. But it is not always the case.
SOCIAL SECURITY CONFIRMS 2 SSI PAYMENTS IN MAY
Supplemental Security Income will be due on May 1 and May 31. Although this is not a bonus or double payment, it will be great to get money in advance if you are on a shoestring budget.
Social Security confirmed that the payment that was due on June 1 will arrive on May 31. Therefore, recipients will collect another payment from May and 1 day in advance.
In this way, recipients can get rid of debt faster or buy things they could not afford because they had no money left. Amounts will depend on your financial situation as well as other personal circumstances.
SOCIAL SECURITY UNVEILS MAXIMUM SSI AMOUNTS IN MAY
If you are a Social Security beneficiary and your check is too low, you may also receive SSI at the same time. However, this will prevent you from getting the full amount in most cases.
If a single person is entitled to $943 in May, they can receive $1,886 in total when they get their May 31 check. What is more, if you are a married couple, you could get up to $1,415 just on May 1.
Hence, the total amount of your 2 SSI payments will be $2,830. If you do not qualify for the largest SSI checks, Social Security expects average payments worth about $696.
