Social Security in the United States is a benefit received by those who are retired, widowed or have a recognized disability. As in most countries, those who have reached retirement age receive a monthly check based on their contribution and/or retirement age.
In the case of disability beneficiaries, they receive a benefit due to incapacity for work. Eligibility and benefit amount depend on their work history and Social Security contributions.
All of these individuals receive Social Security payments on the same day and are divided by only two requirements, the year you retired and the day you were born.
To get a better idea of when you will receive your Social Security payment for the second month of the year, let’s look at the following table.
Schedule of Social Security payments for disability beneficiaries in February 2024
Taking into account that everyone receives the Social Security check according to the day of birth, the government set the payment schedule as follows:
- Second Wednesday in February (14th) for those born from the 1st to the 10th.
- Third Wednesday in February (February 21) for those with birthdays 11 to 20
- And the Four Wednesday of February (28th), will be for those born from the 21st to the 31st.
It should be noted that this year the month of February has 29 days, so the last payment does not coincide with the last day of the month.
In this case, the March SSI payment will comply with the calendar and will have no changes, being March 1, 2024.
For any incident, you can contact Social Security at any office or through the website.
Who Can Apply for SSDI Benefits
Eligibility requirements for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) depend on your age, type of illness or disability, and how long you have worked.
You should use the Benefits Eligibility Screening Program (BEST) to find out if you can apply for SSDI.
Also, your spouse or former spouse and children may be eligible for benefits when you start receiving SSDI payments. Ask about family benefits and confirm if your family members qualify.
You can apply online, by phone, or in person. Keep in mind:
- If they approve your application, you must wait a period of five months to begin receiving payments.
If your application is denied, you can file an appeal to have your case reconsidered.
