SNAP benefits usually increase after COLA. However, there can be exceptions like in Hawaii. This State will get a reduction in benefits after the 2025 COLA. Just like for the 2024 COLA.
If you qualify for the maximum amount, you could receive up to $1,756 if your household size is 8. If you are an individual, Food Stamps can be up to $292. Families of 4 can receive up to $975. Nevertheless, SNAP payments in Alaska can be up to $3,516 if you are 8 people and live in an area known as Rural 2.
SNAP benefit payments from October 1, 2024
Depending on the State where you live, you can receive Food Stamps early or later in the month. States like Alaska, Vermont, Rhode Island, and North Dakota will send all the money on the same payday. So, check your EBT on October 1 if you live there to see the new amount you get.

Other changes in October for some SNAP recipients
Food Stamps will be changing in October, and it is not just about payment amounts. The rules for those aged 18-52 will also be for those aged 53 and 54. This rule has to do with the time limit and Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWD).
Those Americans on SNAP benefits aged 18-54, previously 18-52, will have to work for a minimum of 80 hours per month to get SNAP benefits for over 3 months in 3 years.
Therefore, if you are in that situation, you’d better get all information about these specific work rules. Some exemptions may apply if you have a disability, are pregnant, are a veteran, or were in foster care among others.
