In fact, it is a lot more than the maximum amount for recipients in the 48 contiguous States and the District of Columbia. The maximum SNAP amount in most States is just $1,751 for 8 or $291 for one single person. The U.S. Virgin Islands can send up to $2,252 for 8 in May 2024.
MAXIMUM SNAP AMOUNTS IN VERMONT, RHODE ISLAND, AND NORTH DAKOTA
While a single person can receive up to $291 from SNAP in Vermont, Rhode Island, and North Dakota, 9 members can receive $1,970. A four-member family can receive up to $973.
If you have a family or household of 3, you can receive up to $766 in Vermont, Rhode Island, and North Dakota. Households with just 3 members are a possibility and they can get up to $535.
Do not forget that these are the maximum benefits. SNAP benefits have lower average payments. which means you may not receive the full amount. This is because you have other earnings. Food Stamps only give you part of the money you need to buy groceries.
