The United States will soon be celebrating one of the most important Federal Holidays, affecting the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) opening hours. If you are new to the U.S., you may still not know about the days SSA’s offices close. Federal Holidays are the days all offices close, but extreme weather conditions and other events may also affect local offices, not all of them.
The next day when the Social Security offices will not be open is Thanksgiving. So, if you need to visit a Social Security office, do not do it on Thursday, November 28 because it will be closed. This will be the second day that the Agency closes offices in November, for your information, November 11 was Veteran’s Day.
Will the Social Security office be open on December 25?
After Thanksgiving, there will be another closing day. Social Security offices will be closed on December 25 too. This is because it is the day when Americans celebrate Christmas.
Therefore, Christmas Day will be when the Agency will last close its offices due to a Federal Holiday in 2024. Do not worry because there are plenty of things that you can do online like:
- apply for benefits like retirement or disability
- apply for Medicare
- appeal a decision
- review all your information through my Social Security account
- check the status of an application
- manage your account settings and personal details like address
- get direct deposits
- get proof of benefits
- check FAQs
- get an SSA/Medicare card replacement
If not, the Social Security Administration also has an automated phone number. So, you can call 24/7 regardless of the day or federal holiday. So, you can call SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
