The Social Security Administration (SSA) has made an official announcement. It is now confirmed that there is an important payday change for some SSDI recipients. For those who are not aware, do not worry, it is just a slight change of schedule which will be beneficial.
Usually, those who are receiving both SSI and Social Security Disability Insurance receive their payment on the third. Also, those who started collecting Social Security before May 1997 get it on the third. However, it will not be sent on November 3 because it is on the weekend, and banks and SSA offices close.
First SSDI payment in November ahead of schedule
SSDI recipients who qualify for a payment on the third will receive their check for November on the first. Therefore, November 1 will be the payday for those who usually receive money on the third. To get it you must:
- be on SSDI and do not break any rules
- remain eligible, that is, you still have a disability
- be receiving SSI and SSDI simultaneously or
- have started receiving disability benefits before May 1997
If you started receiving disability benefits after April 30, 1997, you will receive one of the Wednesday payments. Of course, as long as you are not receiving Supplemental Security Income too.
SSDI Wednesday payments in November
After the SSI and SSDI payment on November 3, there will be 3 more paydays. The payment on Wednesday, November 13 will be for those whose birthday is from 1-10, regardless of the month.
Those Social Security Disability Insurance recipients whose birthday is from after the 10th but before the 21st will get a monthly payment from Social Security on November 20.
Finally, there will be another Disability Insurance payment if your birthday is from 21-31. In this case, it will be issued on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. None of these payments include the 2025 COLA increase though. Disability beneficiaries must wait to get COLA until January 2025.
