If you are planning to move to the United States and may want to apply for Food Stamps, this is what you should know first. There are States that send more money when it comes to SNAP maximum amounts.
However, this is something important to take into account. Although you may think it would be best to move to a place where Food Stamps are higher, it may have a negative aspect. They receive higher SNAP maximum amounts because they have higher inflation and cost of living.
ALASKA AND HAWAII SEND THE HIGHEST FOOD STAMP BENEFITS
The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) has claimed that Alaska can pay up to $3,487 for 8 people. However, this is not the same maximum amount if you live in an Urban area or in Rural 1 area.
For example, if you live in an Urban area in Alaska, you can get up to $2,246 on Food Stamps. That could be $2,865 if you live in an area known as Rural 1. Hawaii also sends higher SNAP benefits than in the 48 contiguous States.
The maximum Food Stamps amount is worth $3,166 for 8 in Hawaii. As you can see, it is a lot more than the $1,751 for the 48 contiguous States and the District of Columbia.
U.S. TERRITORIES WITH HIGHER FOOD STAMPS
Not only do Hawaii and Alaska send higher Food Stamps, but also Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands. For example, a single person can receive up to $291 in the 48 contiguous States and up to $430 in Guam.
Families of 4 can receive SNAP payments of up to $1,434 in Guam. The largest payment will be for those whose household size is 8. In Guam, an 8-member family can get up to $2,581.
The U.S. Virgin Islands can send up to $2,252 if you are 8 members. Single recipients can collect up to $375 and if you are 2 up to $688. Anyway, Guam sends higher payments than the U.S. Virgin Islands.
