The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program and the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) are both for people with a qualifying disability that meets Social Security’s strict definition. However, you may get one of them or both of them. It will depend on how low your income and resources are to be eligible or not.
For example, if you are receiving the Supplemental Security Income payment, you can receive SSDI but the first direct deposit or check in the month. Therefore, you cannot get the last SSDI payment in November. This is because this payment is for those who got benefits after April 30, 1997, or those who do not receive SSI.
Getting both SSI on the 29th and SSDI on the 27th is not possible
Those who qualify for SSI on November 29 and are also eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance will receive their monthly SSDI payment on December 3.
Hence, it is not possible to get both checks in late November, but one on Nov. 29th and the other one on December 3, 2024. The good thing is that all SSI recipients will get their monthly payment on the same payday.
What is more, they will receive their money for December on November 29. It means that they will get money in their bank accounts 2 days before the usual payday. This is because Sunday, December 1, 2024, is not a business day. SSA only issues payments on weekdays and never on holidays or weekends.
SSI and SSDI amounts on November 27th and 29th
The largest SSI check on November 29 will be $1,415 for eligible married couples and $943 for individuals. If you get a reduction, your payment amount could be on average:
- $697 for all recipients
- $803 for the under 18
- $745 for those aged 18-64
- $576 for those aged 65 or older
SSDI recipients can get up to $3,822 but this maximum amount is unlikely in most cases because you must have earned the taxable maximum for many years. A disability can prevent you from getting so much money because you may need to file earlier than expected and you may have just worked for a few years. On average, they can receive about $1,542.
