Even if many retirees and disability benefit recipients collected payments on May 3, the Social Security Administration is going to send 3 more payments in May. So, when will recipients collect a new payment in the United States?
If you are on Social Security and you began collecting payments after April 30, 1997, your next payday could be May 8. That means you could receive over a thousand dollars in less than 24 hours.
MAY 8 IS THE NEXT SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENT DATE
The thing is not all retirees qualify for the retirement and disability payment on May 8. The Administration sends the last 3 payments to those who meet the birthday requirement. For example, if your birthday is from 1-10, you will get money on May 8.
May 8 falls on a Wednesday. In fact, the three remaining payments from Social Security will fall on a Wednesday. So, the check after May 8 will be due on May 15. In order to get money from the Administration on May 15 your birthday must be from 11-20.
The last Social Security payment in May will arrive in the recipient’s bank accounts on May 22. As a matter of fact, you will only qualify for this payment if your birth date is from the 21st to the 31. It does not matter the month or year you were born as long as you filed and got approval from the Administration.
SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY AND RETIREMENT BENEFIT AMOUNTS
Not all American workers qualify for Social Security payments. That is why there can be so many different payment amounts. While some can receive very little money and need to apply for SNAP and SSI, others can get up to $4,873 in May 2024.
Social Security can pay $4,873 if you filed at 70, worked for 35 years, and earned the taxable maximum all this time. Filing at Full Retirement Age means you can only get up to $3,822.
If you have a disability, SSDI can pay checks worth up to $3,822 too. However, the average payments for SSDI are about $1,537 as of March 2024. Retirees can get average payments worth $1,913.
